Overview

    Dhauli Shanti Stupa, also known as the Peace Pagoda, is located on the banks of the Daya River near Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This Buddhist monument was built in 1972 by the Japan Buddha Sangha and the Kalinga Nippon Buddha Sangha to commemorate the transformation of Emperor Ashoka after the Kalinga War. The stupa is a white dome-shaped structure that stands as a symbol of peace and non-violence. It features intricate carvings and sculptures depicting various events from Buddha's life and the spread of Buddhism. The site also offers historical significance as it is believed to be the place where Ashoka embraced Buddhism, renouncing war and adopting a path of peace.
