This place is in the small town called Kamalapura in the Bellary district in Karnataka. It is situated within the Vijayanagara, outside the royal center. This museum was established in 1972 and is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. It captures the beauty of the olden Hampi days in the most beautiful manner. This museum has a huge collection of sculptures collected sculpted decades back. Also, there is a treasure trove of coins, tools, miniature paintings, copper carved plates, and silver utensils used to cook and serve in the empire.

Why should visiting a museum be added to your travel list? Won't it make your travel boring? Apart from all the adventurous activities on your trip, it is also necessary to gain knowledge about the destination you visit. With that context visiting a museum will enhance the understanding of the people living in that geological area, their lifestyle, and habits. You get to access unique collections of objects that were used earlier by our ancestors and also interact with the localites. Visiting a museum would never make it boring until you're not mentally ready or tired. Talking about the Hampi - Archaeological Museum has organized the complex history of the Vijayanagar empire into simple sections for clear understanding.

The entire museum is organized in such a manner that it takes you through proper guidance with accurate information. The place is divided into four sections each section holds specific information starting from the geographic location to the statues and idols of the empire. The first section is a talk through the topography of Hmapi and the place conquered by the Vijayanagar Empire. The second section has a large collection of sculptures and idols collected from the Hampi ruins. These look broken, dull, and dusty but they are kept as antiques. This portion majorly exhibits god idols like Veerabhadra, Bhairava, Shakti, Mahisasura, etc. The third section contains all the objects that people use in their daily routine like the arms, coinage, tools, and other metal objects. The fourth section is a collection of people also called the heroes of the Vijayanagar empire. There is a stone projection of soldiers who died on the battlegrounds.
