Varaha Temple, located in the Khajuraho temple complex in Madhya Pradesh, is a significant Hindu temple dedicated to Varaha, the boar incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Constructed during the 10th century by the Chandela dynasty, this temple is part of the western group of Khajuraho temples and is celebrated for its distinctive architectural style and detailed carvings. The temple features classic Nagara-style design with a sanctum, a vestibule, and a mandapa (hall). The main attraction of Varaha Temple is its intricately carved entrance and exterior, adorned with sculptures depicting Varaha in various poses, as well as other deities and mythological scenes. The sanctum houses a large statue of Varaha lifting the Earth, symbolizing the boar's role in rescuing the Earth from the demon Hiranyaksha. The temple’s rich carvings and religious significance make it a key attraction within the Khajuraho complex. As part of the UNESCO World Heritage site, Varaha Temple offers insights into medieval Hindu art and religious practices.
