Bedsa Caves

    The Bedsa Caves, located near Lonavala in Maharashtra, are ancient rock-cut caves that date back to the 1st century BCE. These Buddhist caves are known for their impressive chaitya (prayer hall) and vihara (monastic hall) and are considered one of the lesser-known yet significant examples of early Buddhist architecture in the region. The caves are carved into a steep rock face and feature intricate carvings and inscriptions. The main chaitya hall is notable for its large stupa and finely carved columns.
