Overview

Nohsngithiang Falls or the Seven Sisters Falls is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in India. Situated near Cherrapunji, this is an all year waterfall (unless there is a draught or a water shortage) and holds incredible views!

The falls are named "Seven Sisters" because they consist of seven separate streams that cascade down the limestone cliffs in parallel, creating a striking visual effect. During the monsoon season, all seven streams are clearly visible.

The Seven Sisters flow from a 315 meters height and has more intensity during the monsoons (June to September).

The Seven Sisters Falls hold cultural and mythical significance for the local Khasi people. According to local legends, the seven streams represent seven states of Northeast India, symbolizing their unity and shared heritage.

Do carry some rain gear when you visit the Seven Sisters waterfalls and also some comfortable walking shoes as the paths might get slippery. It is indeed a must visit when you’re in Meghalaya!
