Overview

    One of the most venerated Muslim shrines in India is Hazratbal Shrine, which is situated near Srinagar on the northern banks of Dal Lake. It is well known for containing a relic said to be a strand of the Prophet Muhammad's hair. For Muslims, the shrine—also referred to as Dargah Sharif, Madinat-us-Sani, and Assar-e-Sharif—is a representation of their religion and devotion and has great spiritual value. It is a well-known pilgrimage site and a popular tourist destination in Kashmir because of its magnificent white marble construction, tranquil setting, and spiritual atmosphere.
