Overview

    The Borra Caves, located in the Ananthagiri Hills of the Visakhapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh, are a collection of limestone caves renowned for their geological formations and archaeological significance. Discovered in 1807 by the British geologist William King, these caves are estimated to be around 150 million years old. They are carved out of karst limestone, and the intricate formations of stalactites and stalagmites within the caves attract geologists, archaeologists, and tourists alike. The caves consist of multiple chambers with various formations that resemble animals, objects, and even human figures. Inside, visitors can find unique mineral formations and natural rock sculptures that have been shaped over millennia.
