Itinerary

The following detailed itinerary provides a day-by-day breakdown of your exciting Har Ki Doon trek. From your arrival to the moment you return home, we've outlined your activities and experiences to make the most of your trek. Let's dive into the specifics.

Day 1

Dehradun to Sankri Village (Base Camp) - 210 km | 6400 Feet

Assemble at Dehradun Railway Station by 6.30 a.m.

Our journey begins as soon as we hit the road from Dehradun.

A lengthy but enjoyable journey takes us to Kempty Falls, near Mussoorie, for a full breakfast.

Before arriving at Sankri, the last 22 kilometres pass through the Govind National Park, where one may be lucky enough to see some animals.

By the evening, arrive in Seema via Sankri village.

Before retiring for the night, our trek guide informs us on the next day's adventures.

With excitement in the air, we sink into our comfortable beds, eager to embark on the thrilling voyage that awaits.

Day 2

Sankri Base Camp to Puani Garaat via Taluka Village - 12 km | 8300 Feet

Following an early breakfast, we will go on an exciting journey to the village of Taluka, from where we will begin our hike.

The journey to Puani Garaat is an experience in itself, with mountainous terrain, traditional wooden bridges, and lush green pathways surrounded by the Supin River.

Along the trip, trekkers may come across many mountain-dwelling animals and birds, adding to the excitement of the expedition.

Refreshing water streams dot the trail, giving much-needed hydration throughout the journey.

Enjoy a delicious supper and relax before continuing to Paurani Goraat.

When you arrive at the campsite, you will not only sigh with relief but also be in awe of the natural beauty that surrounds you.

Day 3

Puani Garaat to Kalkatiyadhaar - 7 km | 9000 Feet

Wake up to breathtaking vistas and have a nutritious meal while listening to birds tweeting at dawn.

Today's path options include both level and steep terrain.

Along the route, you'll pass through lush meadows, tumbling waterfalls, and a diverse range of flora and wildlife, providing numerous opportunities for spectacular photographs that capture the essence of the Himalayas.

As you travel, you'll come to the quiet village of Osla, which is deep in mythological lore and home to the old Someshwar Temple, which reflects its residents' distinct culture and customs.

You might take advantage of this opportunity to explore your immediate surroundings, where you can come across unique sights and noises around Kalkatiyadhar.

Dinner with an overnight stay at camp.

Day 4

Kalkatiyadhaar to Har-Ki-Doon - 5 km | 11,700 Feet

Day 4 of your trek begins early, as it is the longest portion of the route. After a full breakfast, you'll head off to explore the stunning countryside.

The trail leads to the glacier basin, which is ornamented with mountain meadows and pine trees.

The path progressively ascends to the convergence of the Supin River and the river from Ruinsara Valley, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

Along the walk, you'll see ice snow patches and snow-covered waterfalls, which add to the stunning environment.

The Har Ki Dun Valley is breathtaking, with its towering peaks and meandering streams. The trail ends at the Har Ki Dun summit, which provides panoramic views of Swargarohini I Peak, Hata Peak, and Black Peak.

After taking in the splendour of the valley, you'll make your way to the tranquil Marinda Tal, which sits at an elevation of 3,970 metres.

With the Hatta and Swargarohini mountains as a backdrop, the lake provides a magnificent setting for an unforgettable experience.

This ethereal valley has a magnificent stream flowing through it, and it feels like you've entered ‘swarg' or heaven, with the majestic Swargarohini peak in the distance.

Day 5

Rest Day in Har-Ki-Doon - 11,700 Feet

A new era of discoveries awaits you now. There are many appealing options available to you. If you're here in the winter, enjoy the snow and explore the nearby flora.

Whatever way you choose to spend your day, you can be confident that it will be one of the most fruitful days of your life, and that is not an exaggeration.

Day 6

Har-Ki-Doon to Puani Garaat - 14 km | 8300 Feet

As we embark on a long journey, look around for inspiration in the opulent scenery. Once you arrive at the campsite, gorge on delicious refreshments.

The last rays of the setting sun create a brilliant rainbow of gold, orange, fire, salmon, and pink hues across the sky.

Day 7

Puani Garaat to Sankri Base Camp via Taluka - 12 Km | 6400 feet

The 12-kilometer trek may appear scary at first, but it is a tremendously rewarding adventure because we travel through rugged terrain for the majority of the route.

This would be an excellent time for some last-minute bird-watching, as it will be your final day in this wonderfully remote region of western Uttarakhand.

Day 8

Sankri Base Camp to Dehradun - 210 km

As we prepare to leave this incredibly serene and magnificent place, we pack our luggage with a heavy heart and say our final goodbyes over a nutritious breakfast.

Check out of the hotel by 8 a.m., and your vehicle, a Tata Sumo or similar, will be waiting for you.

As we return to Dehradhun, remember the endless panoramas that surround you while snapping last-minute shots.

The 10-hour drive will keep you entertained with endless memories to share with your loved ones.

When is Har Ki Dun Valley open?
