You could hire a taxi or hop on a bus to the base camp from Srinagar. For those coming in by train, the nearest railway station would be Jammu Tawi, 300 km from Sonamarg. One can take a bus or a taxi from Jammu to Srinagar and then further on to Sonamarg.
