Are your adventure brain waves calling for a thrilling climb? Pangarchulla trek, the challenging thrill, a climb through snow, thick deodar forests and steep lands. As difficult as it can get, it is one of the best Himalayan treks an adventurist and nature freak can do.

Six days, 14 km and 15,069 ft above sea level and a summit climb later you will have a satisfaction or is otherwise known as, the life’s gratification. Throughout the trek, you will have views of the Greater Himalayan range. The peak is an exclusive panorama of the entirety of Himalayas.

If you happen to visit in Summer (April to June), the pathway would be bloomed with rhododendrons and wildflowers you would have never seen! All the colors are a treat to the eyes.

The peaks of other huge mountains will travel along with you throughout the whole trek making it an unforgettable experience.

The following detailed itinerary provides a day-by-day breakdown of your exciting Pangarchulla trek. From your arrival to the moment you return home, we've outlined your activities and experiences to make the most of your trek. Let's dive into the specifics.

Day 1

Drive from Haridwar – Joshimath (6,750ft, drive of 256 km, 9 hour)

Start your journey from Rishikesh, a spiritual town situated on the banks of the Ganges River. You can hire a taxi or Tempo Traveller for a comfortable ride to Joshimath. The journey typically takes around 9-10 hours depending on road and weather conditions.

The most common route from Rishikesh to Joshimath is via Devprayag, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Chamoli, and finally reaching Joshimath. This route offers stunning views of the Himalayan ranges, lush green valleys, and rivers flowing through narrow gorges.

Throughout the journey, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the Himalayas, including peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Dronagiri. The route passes through several small towns and villages, allowing you to experience the local culture and lifestyle of the Garhwal region.

Tonight will be spent in the comfort of a warm bed in a guest house in this sacred mountain city of Joshimath which lies at an altitude of roughly 1,890M. We have gained considerable altitude for one day, and it would serve well to rest our body in order for it to function well for the rest of what’s coming.

Day 2

Drive from Joshimath to Dhak village 10 km. Then trek uphill to Gulling

Begin your day with a delightful breakfast before embarking on a short 10 km drive to Dhak (7000 ft), which takes approximately 30 minutes. From there, commence your invigorating trek to Guling (9,650 ft), covering a distance of 6 km over 5 hours.

Traverse through lush forests teeming with diverse birdlife, and emerge into picturesque meadows. As you continue along the trail, be captivated by the awe-inspiring sight of the majestic Dronagiri peak, leaving you breathless. Finally, arrive at the serene Guling top, your tranquil abode for the night.

Day 3

Guling to Kuari Pass, 5 hours – return to lower Khullara camp – total 12 Km- 6/7 hours

Start your day with an early breakfast before commencing the Kuari Pass trek, ascending through vibrant pastures adorned with a spectrum of green hues and adorned with shepherds tending to their grazing sheep.

Trek for approximately 3 hours to reach Kuari Pass, where you'll have the option to either proceed directly to the pass or to an alternative vantage point for panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Finally, settle into your tents at the lower Khullara campsite for a restful night's sleep.

Day 4

Lower Khullara to Pangarchulla summit (15069 ft), 6 hours and back to lower Khullara – total 12 Km – 10/11 hours

Embark on a strenuous and challenging summit day from Lower Khullara (11,100 ft) to Pangarchulla summit (15,069 ft), covering a total distance of 12 km in approximately 12-14 hours.

Begin your day early at 5:00 AM with a hearty breakfast, then ascend the slopes of the mountains to reach a ridge leading to the summit.

Traverse through uneven rocky terrains as you make your way to the summit, taking in the awe-inspiring views along the way.

After spending some time marveling at the scenery, begin your descent back to the campsite.

Day 5

Lower Khullara to Auli via Gurson Bugyal – 10 Km – 5/6 hours - drive to Joshimath, 45 mins /14 Km

Begin your day with a delightful breakfast before embarking on a trek along the road connecting Joshimath to Niti-Malari valley.

Hike through dense thickets and picturesque villages, reaching Gurson Bugyal along the way.

Take time to explore the villages of Tugasi and Kharsi, immersing yourself in the local culture and traditions.

Later, enjoy a car journey back to Joshimath, where your lodge awaits with a comforting meal and a rejuvenating steam shower for the night's stay.

Day 6

Drive from Joshimath- Haridwar (6750 ft, drive of 256 km, 9 hour)

Following breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Haridwar, bidding farewell to the snowy environs of the Pangarchulla peak trek via Kuari Pass.

As you journey onward, let the enduring beauty of Mother Nature remain a constant presence in your mind and soul, reflecting the excitement and memories of the entire trek.
