First things first, let's talk numbers. The Valley of Flowers trek begins at Govindghat, perched at about 6,300 feet, up to as high as 14,400 feet. It is approximately a 38 km trek in total. But you need not really have to worry as it's not quite a heavy trail. It will be perfect for the one who has trekked regularly and people like enthusiastic first-timers with a good fitness level. What does the 6-day trek seem like?

Let us give you a glimpse of the 6-day Valley of Flowers trek itinerary On day 1 you’ll begin the journey from Haridwar and drive to Govindghat (approx. 10 hours) with a view of Uttarakhand's picturesque landscapes. On the second day, do a Govindghat to Ghangaria trek, that covers a distance of 14 km for 6-7 hours, through forest covers and beside the roaring river. This will be topped by Day 3 when you trek 10 km around to the Valley of Flowers and are faced with the mesmerizing beauty of the valley. On the fourth day, trek to the sacred Hemkund Sahib which is 6 km each way with a steep ascent, and experience the calmness of the glacial lake and the Gurudwara. On the 5th day, at 14 km, you trek back down to Govindghat. Relive this momentous journey as you go down. Finally, on the 6th day, drive back to Haridwar with a huge bag of memories to last a lifetime.

From Haridwar, drive to Govindghat, which will take about 10 hours. If you come from Dehradun, take a bus or taxi to reach Govindghat via Haridwar. On the other hand, if you are in Rishikesh, drive directly to Govindghat in about 9 hours.

Start your amazing experience by gathering at the Haridwar railway station.
An uphill drive will be arranged along with your fellow trekkers. Get set on your scenic journey to Govindghat via Joshimath and Devaprayag.
Witness the holy confluence of river Bhagirathi and river Alakanand that forms the Ganges. A sight that will forever imprint a memory !
Reach Joshimath, a home to many Pilgrimages. Settle there for the day.
Take part in some activities, have dinner and call it a day!

Wake up to a Himalayan sunrise, be stunned and have a heart breakfast.
After you’ve packed your backpacks with some water bottles, energy bars or anything you feel you’ll need on the trek and commence your trek towards Ghangaria.
Reach Ghangaria, after …. km and set your fort down for the night. Explore Ghangaria’s little hamlet and have some fun activities and exercise to keep yourself energetic for the next day!
Stay rested, Stay excited, as you will finally visit the valley of flowers the following day.

Wake up to a cold pleasant morning in Ghangaria and wake up with the energy and excitement too! Have a healthy breakfast and ascend your trek.
3,858m high you shall witness, what must be god’s best painting come alive, the Valley of flowers. Bloomed in all its glory, blue painted skies and the majestic Himalayas in the background.
Be mesmerized, spend some time doing an activity of your choice; meditating or a walk around or clicking as many pictures as you can. An hour later we shall leave back to Ghangaria.
Enjoy your dinner and get the rest you need because the trek isn’t over yet, so await the next beautiful adventure!

Have breakfast and make your journey the holistic sikh shrine, Hemkund Sahib. The gurudwara in believed to be famous as Guru Gobind Sing had meditated there for many years. Placed amongst seven snow-capped mountains, adds to the spiritual value of the place.
4 hours of a steep climb later, reach Hemkund Sahib and spend some peaceful time there. Have your lunch and descend back to Ghangaria.
Post-trek, have a hearty dinner and rest for the night!

Finally head out of Ghangaria village. Post your delicious breakfast, trek back the same way from Ghangaria to Govindghat. It surely is an easier trail back to Poolna village. If you wish, you can tour Auli in the evening.

On the last day of our journey, we will drive back to Haridwar early in the morning so everyone can leave to their destinations.

The best time for the Valley of Flowers trek is from the middle of July to the middle of August when all varieties of flowers are in bloom.
The Valley of Flowers trek falls under the category of moderate difficulty and is suitable for both beginners and experienced trekkers. However, it involves ascending and descending terrain.
Valley of Flowers happens to be right in the lap of the mighty Himalayas. It is situated within the Chamoli district, in the Uttrakhand State. It lies at an altitude of 14,400 ft.
Valley of Flowers opens for the public to visit on 1st June every year. The park then remains open from June to October.
Though the Valley of Flowers is at its best during the monsoon season, the trekkers must be wary of the slippery trails and the possibility of the landslide.
The trek commences from Govindghat, which is well-connected by road from Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Dehradun. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun and the nearest railway station is Rishikesh.
The fitness required for this trek needs to be pretty reasonable, as one has to walk 10-12 kilometers per day at a high altitude. You should also consult a doctor if you have any existing medical conditions.
While solo trekking is possible and generally safe, joining a group can enhance safety and provide companionship.
The height of the Valley of Flowers is about 3,658 meters or 12,000 feet. Altitude sickness could be a risk; therefore, one must keep oneself properly hydrated.
Mobile networks are available in Govindghat and Ghangaria but are quite unreliable. It is a good idea to inform contacts back home about the lack of connectivity.
The area has a lot of wildlife such as bears and leopards, but they are rarely spotted. Insect repellent is advisable against mosquito and bug bites.
