Kallathigiri Falls

    There is another beautiful waterfall fully surrounded in the lush greenery near the Kemmangundi town. It is none other than the Kallathigiri or the Kalathgiri falls of the Chikmagalur district. Kallathgiri falls is one of nature's most beautiful hidden treasures that bring peace and tranquillity-so very far away from the chaos of the city life. As the name suggests,the falls is made of a pile of rocks. Kallathgiri falls flow from a height of approximately 122 metres creating a mesmerising view and spreading a cool mist around the area. The echo effect and the lush green trees make the environment peaceful and perfect for relaxing.

Kallathgiri has to be trekked through thick jungles and rocky path forests to make the ride more impactful and add more thrill and excitement. The path is relatively easy and offers an excellent view. Hence it is an ideal place to visit for nature lovers and a trip for those looking for an adventure. The Waterfall is surrounded by forests, and is located in the middle of a huge hill. It’s a gorgeous site and is also a famous picnic spot where one can easily sit, relax and spend time at this serene place. The natural pool formed at the bottom of the waterfall is a perfect sight for swimmers, who can wade in the pool to cool off from the oppressive summer heat. The optimal time to visit the Kallathigiri Falls would be either between June to September during Monsoons or right up to March. The waterfall would be spectacular during Monsoons with its lush green vegetation surround and streaming waterfall, but the trek would be a bit adventurous and sludge.
