The Soormane Falls is also called the ‘Suvarnamukhi falls’ and is one of the less visited waterfalls located in Soormane village in Chikmagalur District of Karnataka. Here lies an undiscovered paradise amidst the majestically rising greens of the Western Ghats ensuring a picturesque escape for both nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts. Although not the most popular waterfall in its vicinity, it is still a scenic delight, particularly during the monsoon when it is in its full strength. The water falls over a rocky cliff to the pond and this cascade looks simply hypnotic. Reaching Soormane Falls also involves a trek that takes you through a lush forest filled with varied flora, and the interesting coffee plantations which is an experience by itself. The trail is quite easy, ideal for hikers of all levels and offers the chance to delve into the vast flora and fauna of the area. Varieties of beautiful birds and butterflies can fly here and there which gives trekkers an amazing bird watching experience.
The area around the falls is still untouched by commercialisation and maintaining its authentic beauty and tranquillity. Here visitors are able to enjoy a picnic by the waterfall, a cool dip in the natural pool, or just a chance to sit, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and relax. This is also the place where families should come to relax and experience nature, with no crowds around. Soormane Falls is at its best when it is in full flow and there is greenery all around during monsoon and post-monsoon season i.e. June to September. Nonetheless, you can enjoy the beauty of the falls all year long as each season gives a different view of this natural wonder.
