The beautiful man-made freshwater lake, Lake Pichola, is situated in the centre of Udaipur, Rajasthan. Built by a Banjara (gipsy) tribesman in 1362 AD, Maharana Udai Singh II expanded the lake when he established the city of Udaipur. This charming lake is surrounded by palaces, temples, and ghats, or stone steps, which combine to create an incredibly calm and attractive setting that has drawn tourists for ages.
