Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival & Anuradhapura

Upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, we shall welcome you to the island and begin our journey.

We shall go to Anuradhapura, about a 3.5-hour drive from the airport. After checking into the hotel and refreshing, we will explore the ancient Kingdom of Anuradhapura.

We will check out these historical places:

Sri Mahabodhi – The Sacred Tree with deep historical and religious significance.

Jethawanaramaya & Abhayagiriya – Massive ancient stupas that showcase ancient architectural marvels.

Samadhi Buddha Statue – A masterpiece of serene Buddha craftsmanship.

Ruwanwalisaya (Pagoda) – A towering sacred monument in the Buddhist world.

Kuttampokuna (Twin Ponds) – An impressive bathing pond complex.

Isurumuniya Temple – Famous for its ancient carvings and peaceful setting.

Thuparamaya, Brazen Palace, Eth Pokuna (Elephant Pond), Moonstone, Royal Palace, Dalada Maligawa – These sites reflect the grandeur of the ancient city.

Day 2

Polonnaruwa & Minneriya National Park

After breakfast, we shall go to Polonnaruwa, another UNESCO World Heritage site.

We will check this place, rich in Buddhist and Hindu monuments, including:

Gal Vihara – Featuring colossal Buddha statues carved into rock.

Polonnaruwa Vatadage – A striking circular relic house.

Palace of King Parakramabahu – The impressive ruins of a royal palace.

Parakrama Samudraya – A massive reservoir, an engineering marvel of its time.

In the evening, we will head to Minneriya National Park.

We shall go on a Jeep Safari to witness the famous elephant gathering and spot various waterbirds. The best time to visit is from May to October.

Sigiriya & Dambulla Cave Temple

After breakfast, we shall go to Sigiriya Rock, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Afterward, we shall go to Dambulla Cave Temple.

We will check this site, the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka, filled with Buddhist mural paintings and statues.

Day 4

Kandy & Spice Garden

After breakfast, we shall proceed to Kandy, the most sacred city for Buddhists.

On the way, we will visit a Spice Garden, where the scents of cinnamon, nutmeg, and other spices will captivate you, and you’ll learn about Sri Lanka’s centuries-old spice trade.

Afterward, we will check into the hotel and prepare for an evening cultural experience.

We shall go to the Kandy Cultural Show, where we will witness traditional Kandyan dances, acrobatic performances, and a vibrant display of Sri Lankan heritage.

Day 5

Kandy Exploration

After breakfast, we shall visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa).

We will explore this sacred Buddhist site, a revered temple housing the tooth relic of the Buddha.

Next, we will head to Peradeniya Botanical Garden.

We will check out this extensive garden, home to over 4,000 plant species. The lush greenery and exotic flora make this garden a must-visit destination for nature lovers.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

On the final day, we shall go to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

After this delightful visit, we shall proceed to the airport, bidding farewell to Sri Lanka.
