Kemmangundi

    Kemmangundi, officially referred to as the KR Hills as a tribute to Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, is a hill station situated in the Chikmagalur district. Located at an elevation of 1434 metres or 4700 feet above the sea level, Kemmangundi Hill Station is famous for its natural scenery, verdant meadows, and pleasant weather, and thus a frequented place for nature lovers and adventurers. Crooked and straight paths zigzag through the hill’s vast area. Most of them are flower-laden and shady, making them perfect spots to relax. There are many viewpoints in Kemmangundi that provide a magnificent view of the hills and valleys around. The Raj Bhavan is the most visited viewpoint, and it provides a 360 view of the Shola grasslands sprinkled on the hills at a distance. The most visited viewpoint is the Z point where people come to see the sun rise and set.

Although many treks are available at Kemmangundi that pass through forests, waterfalls, and meadows, the most popular one is the trek to the Hebbe Falls. It is a waterfall surrounded by dense green trees. It is an uphill walk from Kemmangundi, but one can approach it by walking and standing right underneath the falls. Kemmangundi is a paradise for nature lovers and is surrounded by a wildlife sanctuary of the same name. In this flora and fauna house, hundreds of avian species will entertain you while you’re here. The Malabar trogon, white-bellied blue flycatcher, and overdue hornbill are some of the birds located within the sanctuary. Kemmangundi has an optimum climate variant between September to February when the place is mostly green. Kemmangundi will represent precisely what everyone expects out of a cooler vacation.
