Trilokanth Temple was built at the end of the 9th century and beginning of the 10th century, the major role was played by the Rajgrana of Chambe Mahayogi Sidh Charpathi Dar. The ancient name of Trilokanath temple is ‘Tunda Vihar’ this temple was built by a combination of Hindus and Buddhists. While the Hindus consider ‘Triloknath’ and ‘Losd shiva’ and Buddhists consider ‘Arya Avalokiteshwar’ named by Tibetan people. The holy shrine here is the most sacred pilgrim and stands third famous shrine competing with Kailash and Mansarovar. The temple is situated near the Chandra Bhaga valley providing a beautiful view of the western Himalayas. The uniqueness of the temple lies in bringing together two religions - Hindus and Buddhists.
Triloknath temple is at a distance of 45 KM from the district Head Quater Kelong. How to reach this place has many answers. While it’s at a distance of 146 km from Manali, it can also be reached by the gateway to Lahul valley which is officially open from April to November for visitors. People visit this place via road during the summer and travel by helicopter in winter. HRTC (Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation) makes it more easy by providing buses to and fro from the temple.
If you’re planning to stay near the temple they’re accommodations available for about 125 - 150 people. But there are no private stay areas, the place is more like a common room with a big hall.
