One of Srinagar's most magical sights is Pari Mahal, often called the Palace of Fairies, which is perched atop the Zabarwan mountain range with a stunning view of Dal Lake. Dara Shikoh, the oldest son of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, constructed this seven-terraced garden in the middle of the 17th century. It is rich in natural beauty and history. Pari Mahal, which was once a Buddhist monastery, was subsequently transformed into a stunning garden and retreat that has a distinctive fusion of Persian garden design and Islamic architecture.
