Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival and Negombo Exploration

We shall begin our journey in Negombo, just a 15-minute drive from the airport. Negombo is known for its pristine beach and lively atmosphere.

We shall go to Negombo Lagoon. The lagoon offers a breathtaking view and is an ideal playground for water sports enthusiasts. Here, you can enjoy windsurfing, surfing, scuba diving, rafting, and boat rides.

We shall check out the Negombo Fish Market (Lellama). The second-largest fish market in Sri Lanka, it offers an intriguing insight into the daily lives of the local fishermen. Witness the bustling morning auctions and catch a glimpse of the city’s deep-rooted fishing culture.

After exploring, we will spend the evening leisurely by the Negombo beach, soaking in the sunset.

Day 2 and 3

Trincomalee.

We shall explore Trincomalee’s golden beaches. Known for its vibrant marine life, the beaches are home to blue whales, making them a prime spot for marine excursions and relaxing by the calm waters.

We shall visit Trincomalee Harbour. One of the most stunning natural harbours in the world, it is a remarkable site with historical importance.

We will check out the Dutch Fort. This 17th-century fort offers a glimpse into the colonial history of Sri Lanka, complete with remnants of Dutch architecture and military structures.

We shall spend the rest of the evening relaxing by the beach, enjoying the serene ambiance.

Day 4 and 5

Nilaveli & Pigeon Island

A short 20-minute drive from Trincomalee brings us to Nilaveli, a picturesque beach destination ideal for water activities.

We shall explore Pigeon Island National Park. Known for its pristine coral reefs and marine wildlife, this island is a snorkeler's paradise. We will embark on a snorkelling adventure, exploring the vibrant marine life and natural beauty of this small island located just 1 km from the coast.

The remainder of the day will be spent relaxing on the soft sands of Nilaveli Beach, soaking in the beauty of the east coast.

Day 6

Sigiriya & Dambulla

After a leisurely morning at the beach, we will proceed to the ancient city of Dambulla, stopping first at Sigiriya, an iconic archaeological landmark.

Sigiriya, also known as the Lion Rock, is a UNESCO World Heritage site that boasts impressive gardens, ponds, and the remains of an ancient palace. We will climb the rock to witness the panoramic views and learn about the rich history behind this incredible structure.

We will visit the Dambulla Cave Temple. Located on a massive rock over 600 feet high, this temple complex is home to some of the most exquisite Buddha statues and rock paintings in Sri Lanka. It’s one of the most significant historical sites on the island, with origins dating back to the 2nd century BC.

After exploring Dambulla and Sigiriya, we shall head back to the airport for departure, concluding our fascinating tour of Sri Lanka’s east coast.
