It is said that Baba Payam Uddin gave up all his belongings to serve the common people. It is also said that he lived and meditated at this very shrine, which is now a tomb for his disciples. On September 2nd, 1989 there was a mysterious fire that destroyed the 300-year-old shrine. It has since been restored by the state administration and the Auqaf or charitable endowment.
