Located about 20 km from Munnar and an elevation of 8600ft above sea level, Meesapulimala is a mountain lover’s dream destination. The mountain gets its name due to its resemblance to a tiger’s face. In Tamil, Meesa means mustache, Puli means tiger and Mala means hill.
It is the second-highest peak in South India. To reach the summit of the Meesapulimala, you have to trek through the Rhodo Valley, which is famous for its Rhodendron plants. The Rhodo Valley Trek takes you through emerald-green forests and blushing green Rhododendron flowers.
Once you reach the peak, you are welcomed to the panoramic views of Munnar and Suryanelli. If the clouds clear up, you can also see the shared border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Sit on the grass, take in the views, and breathe some fresh air while you relax after a trek to the peak. Meesapulimala has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making this adventure extremely special.
