Located near Sonmarg in Kashmir, the Thajiwas Glacier is a magnificent beauty. With an altitude of 9186 feet, the glacier is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. The glacier overlooks Thajiwas Mountain and is encompassed by vibrant meadows, coniferous trees, and tranquil lakes. The glacier looks completely different depending on the season. If you happen to visit the Thajiwas glacier during summer, the meadows are covered in fresh green grass, and the entire region is enveloped in lush greenery. The skies are clear and the streams flow with pristine water. The slight warmth emanating from the sun and the sheep grazing on the grass, make for a perfect setting if you want to just lay on the meadows and relax. The place is absolutely magical and looks nothing less than a page out of a fantasy novel.
If you visit in winter, however, the place looks entirely different. The meadows are now blanketed by snow and the place has transformed into a winter paradise. The glacier is also famous for photography offering stunning views of frozen lakes and glaciers.

The trekking trail takes you through picturesque meadows covered in colorful wildflowers and gushing streams and is a highly recommended activity. During winter, the roads are mostly closed due to heavy snowfall. But if the road conditions are suitable, you can visit the glacier from October to April to indulge in winter adventure sports.
