Originally called the Hajan Valley, Betaab Valley is located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a mountain valley located about 15 km from Pahalgam. The Valley got its name as the 1983 Hindi movie Betaab, starring Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh was shot there. Betaab Valley lies between Pahalgam and Chandanwari and is on the way to the Amarnath temple yatra. The valley was once populated by shepherds grazing their sheep on the grasslands during summer, but now it is primarily a tourist spot, known for its beautiful scenery.
Betaab Valley is known for its vibrant meadows, majestic mountains, and dense forests. The Lidder River flows through the valley and looks absolutely magical from a bird’s eye view. During winter, the temperature reaches sub-zero and the valley is blanketed by thick layers of snow. The weather may not be ideal for trekking or exploration but is a beautiful time to visit for honeymooners to witness the snow-clad mountains of Kashmir.
