It takes one hour from the village to reach the end of Tso Moriri lake. Can also spot black necked cranes. It is also the largest high altitude lake in all of Ladakh. Tso Moriri is less popular, making it one of the best off beat places to visit. It sits an altitude of 4592 meters above sea level in the Tso Moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve.
The area around the lake is inhabited by nomadic Changpa herders, who graze their livestock on the vast grasslands surrounding the lake. The lake is fed by snowmelt from the surrounding mountains and serves as a vital habitat for a variety of bird species, including migratory birds such as bar-headed geese, Brahminy ducks, and black-necked cranes.
Also known as the Mountain Lake, Tso Moriri is one of the two most popular lakes in the Ladakh region of the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It runs up to 28 kilometers in length and is 100 feet deep on average. It is an ideal travel destination for an offbeat traveller as well as those who wish to explore the untouched beauty of Ladakh.
