    With an elevation of 7,100 feet, Kolukkumalai is the highest tea estate in the world. A trek through the tea estate takes you to the vantage point which offers you the most amazing view of the sunrise. You can see the sun ascend from the blanket of fluffy clouds.

The Kolukkumalai Tea plantation is known for its tea leaves and distinct aroma. The leaves are handpicked and manually packed for distribution. The tea leaves are processed using vintage methods in a colonial-era factory. Pesticides and other chemicals are not used in the cultivation. The tea leaves grow in pollution-free high altitudes, thereby enhancing the taste and overall quality of the tea.

The steep terrains however prove challenging for the plantation workers and are advised to work with precaution. A word of caution - the road to the Kolukkumalai Tea Plantation is unpaved and is not for the faint-hearted. But if you are in the mood for some off-road adventure, hop into a local jeep for a thrilling ride to the untouched beauty of Munnar.
